Two sectional losses kept Central from capturing its fourth consecutive state tournament berth. But it didn’t undo the tremendous season one of Georgia’s top prospects had. In 36 games, Yancey batted .517 with 50 runs, nine doubles, three triples, 14 home runs, 34 RBI and 55 walks. The Alabama-bound Yancey won the Georgia Class AAA Co-Player of the Year award.
